Haines-Skagway Fast Ferry

The hearts of downtown Haines and Skagway may be separated by 350 miles by road but they’re just a quick 45 minutes trip on the Haines-Skagway Fast Ferry. Climb aboard a high speed catamaran and find a comfortable seat in the enclosed lower deck, or head upstairs to enjoy unobstructed views of the spectacular Lynn Canal, North America’s longest and deepest fjord.

Keep an eye out for waterfalls spilling down steep cliffs, glaciers perched on high mountain passes. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a whale surfacing from the deep. Fjord Express To Juneau

IN JUST ONE DAY SEE THE BEST OF THE INSIDE PASSAGE

Depart Haines in the morning and head south thru Lynn Canal, the continent’s longest and deepest glacial fjord. Marine life abounds in these waters, and will highlight your morning voyage. You’ll see hanging glaciers, nesting bald eagles, harbor seals, and humpback or killer whales. There will be a stop at a rookery where hundreds of Steller sea lions gather in summer to breed and pup.

Upon arrival at the dock in Yankee Cove, board a motorcoach and relax while your driver takes you for a scenic, winding, narrated drive through the coastal rain forest of Southeast Alaska to downtown Juneau.

Juneau is a city with a rich and colorful history. Your driver-guide will show you the capital building and the governor’s mansion, and provide you with a walking tour map to orient you to the city’s other attractions. The bus drops you downtown on the water front at Marine Park, with easy access to restaurants and shopping. Enjoy a leisurely lunch, and take in the sights of Alaska’s capitol. You’ll have approximately three hours of “free” time to explore downtown before re-boarding the bus for spectacular Mendenhall Glacier.

At the glacier, visit the US Forest Service Visitor Center for information about this amazing “river of ice”, enjoy a short movie, then take a stroll on the park’s groomed pathways for an unbelievable view. Don’t forget your camera!

CHILKAT BALD EAGLE PRESERVE FLOAT TOUR

This is the adventure of a lifetime so bring your family and friends rafting through the world famous Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. This excursion can be enjoyed by anyone over the age of 7.

Watch the eagles and wildlife on this spectaular river float trip. Your adventure begins with a narrated bus ride up the Haines Highway and into the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. There you meet your naturalist guides and board heavy-duty 18 foot rafts to float quietly through the heart of the preserve. The Eagle Preserve boasts the largest congregation of bald eagles in the world. Eagles, bears and wolves all frequent the preserve to feed on the plentiful salmon making their way upstream to their spawning beds. Often moose are spotted crossin the river or feeding in the ponds in the valley.

The preserve is also home to Klukwan, the mother village of the Tlingit nation. Located at the confluence of three rivers, this historic village has seen a multitude of generations. For hundreds of years, the Tlingits have lived off the bounty of this special place. And still today you will see them fishing and smoking their catch ar the river’s edge.

This round trip van/bus tour includes your pick up/drop off at the Haines Hitch-Up RV Park. You will spend approx. 1.5 hours exploration rafting thru the Bald Eagle Preserve on the Tsirku or Chilkat Rivers. Includes a light snack and beverage.

KAYAKING AT CHILKOOT LAKE

This spectacular kayaking adventure immerses you in the incredible beauty of wild Alaska! You will have the opportunity to see amazing blue glaciers, breathtaking waterfalls, and extraordinary wildlife and fauna!

Join professional kayak guides for an exciting paddling adventure on the gorgeous Chilkoot Lake. This is a fantastic paddle for all abilities and no experience is necessary.

Once you have arrived at the water you will receive a brief safety orientation, be outfitted with floatation vest and rubber boots, and get familarized with your sea kayak. At least the next 1.5 hours will be spent enjoying the breath-taking scenery that Alaska is famous for.

You will be surrounded with towering mountains, glaciers, rivers, and fabulous wildlife. There are frequent sightings of otters, eagles, bears and more. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the incredible scenery, take pictures of the astounding wildlife and enjoy the delicious smoked salmon snack! Don’t forget to bring your camera.
