Fjord Express To Juneau

IN JUST ONE DAY SEE THE BEST OF THE INSIDE PASSAGE

Depart Haines in the morning and head south thru Lynn Canal, the continent’s longest and deepest glacial fjord. Marine life abounds in these waters, and will highlight your morning voyage. You’ll see hanging glaciers, nesting bald eagles, harbor seals, and humpback or killer whales. There will be a stop at a rookery where hundreds of Steller sea lions gather in summer to breed and pup.

Upon arrival at the dock in Yankee Cove, board a motorcoach and relax while your driver takes you for a scenic, winding, narrated drive through the coastal rain forest of Southeast Alaska to downtown Juneau.

Juneau is a city with a rich and colorful history. Your driver-guide will show you the capital building and the governor’s mansion, and provide you with a walking tour map to orient you to the city’s other attractions. The bus drops you downtown on the water front at Marine Park, with easy access to restaurants and shopping. Enjoy a leisurely lunch, and take in the sights of Alaska’s capitol. You’ll have approximately three hours of “free” time to explore downtown before re-boarding the bus for spectacular Mendenhall Glacier.

At the glacier, visit the US Forest Service Visitor Center for information about this amazing “river of ice”, enjoy a short movie, then take a stroll on the park’s groomed pathways for an unbelievable view. Don’t forget your camera!

Adventure Bound Tracy Arm Fjord Cruise

Glaciers, icebergs, waterfalls, whales, bears, eagles, mountain goats & hundreds of seals!

Board the 56' Adventure Bound for a leisurely full day cruise thru the Stephens Passage where you should watch for humpback and orca whales and scan the shoreline for bear and mountain goats.

Then you will turn into Tracy Arm, which is a narrow, twisting, turning fjord with massive cliffs rising thousands of feet on each side. There are snow-capped peaks, shear rock palisades, waterfalls and tidewater glaciers.

As you approach the Twin Sawyer Glacier, icebergs will surround the vessel as you wait for the likely event of "calving" when part of the glacier's face breaks away with a roar and plummets to the water below. Near the South Sawyer Glacier hundreds of seals relax on the icebergs surrounding the vessel, safe from predators in the ice-choked fjord.
